Jamaica Mission - April 8 - 22nd, 2009
Woody and Sharon were invited to do ministry with Majors Vilo & Yvrose Exantus in Kingston Jamaica. It was a demanding 15 days, doing Holy Week Services and Easter Sunday at the Kingston Central Corps.
We were guest leaders at the Officers' Retreat when both Eastern Jamaica and Western Jamaica Divisions came together for four days, with their respective Divisional Leaders, Majors Kervin & Lucia Harry, and Majors Allen & Esther Satterlee. There were 66 officers present and it was moving to see their participation and response to our sessions based on the life of Joshua -"From the Pit to Leadership!" The fellowship enjoyed was most meaningful, with us having spent four years in leadership in the Caribbean 1986 - 1990.
We were thrilled to conduct the Sunday Morning Service at Havendale congregation in Kingston, being guests of Captains Jonathan & Prescillia Kellman, former officers with us in Bermuda. We enjoyed a marvellous Barbadian dinner and fellowship in their home with their family after. The open air meeting at Jonestown resulted in some 25 decisions for Christ of youth and adults. Our illusions were used on several occasions.
It was great to share some time with Majors Ron and Donna Millar at the College for Officer Training. They were kind to us to let us stay with them in their home for a few days. We were also able to do the morning Chapel Service at the College at which time we talked about Israel, the Land of the Bible.
It was a pleasure to share some time with the new Territorial Leaders, Colonels Onal and Edmane Castor, whom we have known for several years.
